Job Description

Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity. The Quality Engineer will work with Product Development and will monitor, analyze, and test software during development in order to ensure design & performance quality. The QE will make sure that the software adheres to the standards set by the Company. The QE is involved throughout the software development life cycle starting with requirements gathering and continuing all the way through to the successful release of the software.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    1. 3+ years of experience in software testing using Microsoft tools and technologies.
    2. 3+ years of experience with duties and responsibilities directly related to those specified above.
    3. Associated business knowledge may substitute for some testing experience.
    4. 2+ years of experience with automated test tools desired
    5. Helpdesk support experience is desirable.
    6. Experience in the insurance or financial services industry desired.
    7. Working knowledge of computers, Windows applications and operating systems.
    8. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite including Excel and Word.
    9. Full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
    10. Intermediate knowledge and skills with relational database concepts.
    11. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or as a part of a team.
    12. Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
    13. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    14. Understand the importance of following procedures currently in place.
    15. Ability to process and apply feedback.
    16. Ability to "do what it takes to get the job done."
    17. Proficient with written and oral communication skills.
        1. Develop a thorough knowledge of the systems, tools, and products being tested.
        2. Maintain proficiency with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
        3. Follow established quality control processes, testing methods, and standards.
        4. Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans, test cases, and procedures based on established standards.
        5. Design and implement testing procedures for each assigned project.
        6. Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities in alignment with the product
        7. roadmap milestones.
        8. Execute test plans at all defined junctures of the SDLC.
        9. Perform a thorough shakeout test after builds/installs are complete. Complete full regression testing and analyze test results. Provide documentation of regression results.
        10. Monitor defect tracking system daily for work assignments. This includes entering problem defects into the tracking system when applicable. Ensuring steps to recreate the problem are clear and understood by the development team.
        11. Work with Development and Product Manager to provide release notes for each release, which includes details about each enhancement and defect.
        12. Own all assigned work, provide accurate estimates on work to be done, work completed, and status work.
